The Feminist Review Trust is seeking applications from eligible entities for the 2nd round of its 2018 grant program to represent the diversity of women’s lives globally and supporting the creativity with which women fight the inequalities they face. Set up in 2001, the Trust was funded by Feminist Review. Run as a collective since its inception in 1979 the voluntary work of Feminist Review’s editorial teams over the years has provided the means for the Trust to share the success of the journal with groups of women throughout the world similarly working for change. Focus Areas:
- Lesbian and transgender rights

2. UNESCO U40 Empowered: Women Entrepreneurs Powering the Digital Creative Industries

United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has launched a new initiative with Sabrina Ho “U40 Empowered: Women entrepreneurs powering the digital creative industries”. This initiative expands the actions of the International Fund for Cultural Diversity by supporting projects from national and international NGOs that promote young female cultural entrepreneurs working in the digital creative industries. It is designed to increase opportunities for U40 women to access funding, infrastructure, equipment and co-production opportunities in the digital creative industries. “U40 Empowered” will finance projects that:
- Develop and/or implement strategies that invest in women as entrepreneurs working in the digital creative industries;
- Create networks and opportunities for U40 women working in the digital creative industries to innovate and collaborate;
- Organise female-led creative mentorship programmes for U40 women in partnership with digital creative hubs, incubators and clusters;
- Give visibility to the work and innovations of U40 women entrepreneurs working in the digital creative industries;
- Strengthen the digital skills of U40 female creative industry professionals;
- Collect and analyse sex-disaggregated data with a view to better understand the underlying causes of gender inequality in the digital creative industries with a view to inform policy making.
Eligibility Criteria
- Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from eligible countries: Non-governmental organizations that, according to their national regulations, are non-governmental and non-profit and that meet the definition of civil society mentioned in the Operational Guidelines.
- International non-governmental organizations (INGOs) registered in countries Parties to the 2005 Convention: International non-governmental organizations (INGOs), which meet the definition of civil society mentioned in the Operational Guidelines; and which present projects that have an impact in developing countries at the sub-regional, regional or inter-regional level.
3. N-Peace Awards

Nominations are open for the 2018 N-Peace Awards in order to recognize individuals who work on women, peace and security by profiling, documenting and highlighting their work and achievements. The Awards are intended to further the cause of peace, gender equality, equal participation, and empowerment of women. Currently unique to the Asia-Pacific region, N-Peace operates in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Nepal, with the goal of implementing UNSCR 1325, and enhancing the role of women in conflict resolution and peace-building. There are 3 categories under the 2018 N-Peace Awards -
- Sharing Untold Stories – Women transforming their communities (there will be 7 winners in total for this category)
- Campaignaing for Action – Women and men mobilizing for peace (one woman and one man from each country)
- The Peace Generation – young women and men building peace through volunteerism (one woman and one man)

4. N-Peace Small Grants

The N-Peace Network is seeking applications for its 2018 N-Peace Small Grants program. The small grants component is rolled out starting from 2018 to support civil society action on the ground in implementing the women, peace and security (WPS) agenda, and will focus on three of the four pillars of the WPS agenda including:
- Participation – ensuring women’s equal participation in the decision making process;
- Protection – protecting and promoting the rights of women in conflict affected situations; and,
- Prevention – preventing conflict and all forms of violence against women in conflict and post conflict situations.
The 3 categories of the 2018 N-Peace Small Grant include:
- Local/community level initiatives on women peace and security: This category will help to strengthen local/community efforts to implement the women peace and security agenda.
- Cross border/regional level initiatives on women, peace, and security: This category will help to strengthen cross boarder/ regional efforts to implement the women peace and security agenda.
- Youth led initiatives on women peace and security : This category will help to strengthen youth led community initiatives that implement the women peace and security agenda.
Eligibility Criteria, CSOs who demonstrate competency in the following areas are eligible to apply:
- Legal Status: legal status either in the Philippines, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Nepal, Myanmar, Sri Lanka or Pakistan
- Mandate, policies and governance: CSOs that are under a not-for-profit mandate, clear organizational structure and share UNDPs principles of human development , particularly the principles of equality and non-discrimination; and
- Constituency and external support: Clear constituency and proof of partnerships with other CSOs or governments
- Capacity for Project Management: Technical, managerial, administrative and financial capacity to implement the project

5. WWSF Prize for Women Creativity in Rural Life

The foundation will cash award of US$ 1000 per laureate.
The Women’s World Summit Foundation (WWSF) is currently inviting applicants for its 24th annual Prize for women’s creativity in rural life in order to honor women and women’s groups around the world exhibiting exceptional creativity, courage and commitment for the improvement of the quality of life in rural communities. The Prize aims to draw international attention to laureates’ contributions to sustainable development, food security and peace, thus generating recognition and support for their initiatives and projects. Focus Areas:
- Exceptional courage and perseverance in improving rural life
- Creativity in the approach
- Preservation of and respect for the environment (if the candidate is involved with the environment)
- Continuing impact in the community
- Participation in the WWSF 17 Days of Activism Campaign – 1-17 October with 17 themes is encouraged
- Underline how the work of the candidate promotes the UN Sustainable Development Agenda 2030
