WACC, is a Canadian non-governmental organization that builds on communication rights all around the world (http://www.waccglobal.org/our-networks/wacc-regional-networks)
Grant size: Most project support provided by WACC ranges between 8,000 to 10,000 Euros. We will consider grants up to about 15,000 Euros. A grant can be for the entire budget or for part of a larger budget up to 30,000 Euros whose balance of funds is guaranteed by another partner.
WACC is normally able to provide funds for new projects that last no longer than one year.
DESCRIPTION
The World Association for Christian Communication (WACC), a Canadian non-governmental organization that builds on communication rights in order to promote social justice. It has issued a call for project partnership proposals from organizations working on communications projects to address poverty in developing countries.
As part of its Strategic Plan 2012-2016, WACC is focusing on four areas of work related to Communication Rights and Public Voices:
• Strengthening Community Radio (see attached application guideline)
• Monitoring News Media Reporting on Poverty
• Gender and Communication
• Pathways to Digital Frontiers
The application process consists of two stages.
Stage One: Concept Notes
1. Applicants are invited to complete a short form based on the criteria for project support.
2. The deadlines for projects commencing in early 2016 are:
- 26 July 2015 for Strengthening Community Radio; and Pathways to Digital Frontiers;
- 13 September 2015 for Gender and Communication; and Monitoring News Media Reporting on Poverty.
3. WACC will review the Concept Notes in the context of programme criteria and current priorities. Only some applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal. Decisions will be announced on:
- 4 September 2015 for Strengthening Community Radio; and Pathways to Digital Frontiers;
- 9 October 2015 for Gender and Communication; and Monitoring News Media Reporting on Poverty.
Stage Two: Full Proposals
4. Selected applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal by the deadline of:
- 4 October 2015 for Strengthening Community Radio; and Pathways to Digital Frontiers;
- 8 November 2015 for Gender and Communication; and Monitoring News Media Reporting on Poverty.
Please note that there will be only four weeks to complete and submit a full proposal.
Final decisions will be communicated to applicants in December 2015.
WHO CAN APPLY
Church-related and secular institutions and civil society organizations are eligible to seek support. WACC will check the standing and credibility of applicants. WACC will consider only one application at a time from each organization. WACC does not accept project applications from individuals or government institutions.
