Canadian Embassies provide funding and technical support in developing countries under the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI). Although the aims and goals of these calls varies according to the most urgent needs of individual countries, CFLI is generally interested in projects addressing gender equality and women empowerment, democratic governance, climate change and environmental sustainability, security and stability and other issues.
Calls for proposals are normally open throughout the year and proposals shall be sent to the local Canadian Embassy for assessment. Please note that the High Commission of Canada in Kenya is responsible for the CFLI Program in: Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia and Uganda. DESCRIPTION
- Promoting gender equality and empowerment of women and girls;
- Support of development of human potential, particularly in the areas of health, nutrition and education;
- Defending and securing human rights, inclusive and accountable governance, democracy, the peaceful pluralism and respect for diversity;
- Support inclusive and “green” economic growth;
- Help solve environmental problems, including water resources and climate change;
- The maintenance of peace and security.
ELIGIBILITY

Being registered as Ukrainian community association or organization, such as:
- Local non-governmental, public and non-profit organization;
- Local educational institution plans to work on the project at the local level;
- International, intergovernmental, multinational and regional organizations and institutions or agency that works on local development initiatives;
- Municipal, regional or national authority or agency that works over local development projects, and
- And Canadian non-profit organization that implements projects on local development through local office;
- To be able to provide all relevant registration documents issued by the Ukrainian authorities;
- Have a valid bank account in the Ukrainian financial institution and to be able to provide account information;
- Submit the completed application in the form prescribed by the Embassy of Canada;
- Being able to demonstrate the real benefits to the target audience / customers, especially for women, children, youth, and minorities, the disabled and / or elderly.
Applications for funding must be submitted by email and in hard copy (2 copies) by mail to the Canadian Embassy in Ukraine at the address given on the website above.
