The GIZ is implementing the Good Governance in Local Authorities Project (2024–2029) in Zimbabwe, on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), which is jointly co-funded by the European Union (EU) and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
The focus of this opportunity is on two key priority areas: Social Accountability and Youth Inclusion. Under Social Accountability, the call supports the promotion of accountability of local authorities through participatory processes and platforms, empowering citizens to engage constructively in local governance processes through awareness and education on rights and responsibilities, and building the capacities of community members for social accountability and human rights compliance monitoring. Under Youth Inclusion, it aims at enhancing opportunities for participation of youth in council decision-making processes, with a particular focus on intersectionality, and in cooperation with local authorities and the GGLA project, supporting local youth groups to ensure representation and participation of young people in local governance.
